位于今浦东新区北部。原为宝山县高桥乡，民国17年(1928年)设置高桥区。民国34年划入高行区地。区境东沿椿树浦、咸塘浜一线，南至杨家沟、都台浦、马家浜遗址，西抵黄浦江，北至吴淞口。以高桥镇得名。1956年与洋泾、杨思2区合置东郊区。
