清源郡，天宝（742年）置，唐廷下诏改州为郡，泉州市易名清源郡，属岭南道，领南安县、莆田市、仙游县（因郡、县同名，清源县改名为仙游县）、晋江市四县，清源郡有23806户，160295人，为中州。
